Climbing in the Dolomites
High above the Alpe di Siusi
There are many routes leading to the Santner spire: climbing the north face, the Santner belly or attempting the via ferrata in memory of Pepi Schmuck are just 3 of them. For those who want to do climbing in the holiday region Alpe di Siusi, the Santner spire is the ultimate goal. The spire is named after its first ascent, Johann Santner, who, on July 2, 1880, was the first to set his foot on the then called Sciliar spire. But the Santner spire isn’t the only one with ideal climbing conditions: the whole Sciliar mountain with its impressing north and west face and the Santner and Euringer spires stirs the climber’s blood.
Worthwhile climbing destinations around the Alpe di Siusi:
• Santner spire
• Burgstall
• Schattenkofel
• Mumelterkopf
• Euringer spire
• Klammpfeiler
• Hammerwand
The Sciliar mountain in the Dolomites has something for every taste: besides their technical difficulty the climbing routes also differ in their length and their forms of protection. However, there’s one thing they all have in common: the breathtaking scenery of the Dolomites.
