Since June 2009 the Dolomites, the "Pale Mountains", are part of the
World Natural Heritage. Their
unique beauty and their particular form helped them to become part of the 180 monuments that are entitled World Natural Heritage. Nine territories, among them there is also the
Nature Park Sciliar - Catinaccio, are listed in it.
The Nature Park Sciliar-Catinaccio is 7,292 ha big and situated in the western part of the Dolomites. The park includes three communities (Castelrotto, Fiè and Tires) together with the landscape conservation area Alpe di Siusi. The Sciliar mountain with the two famous peaks Santner and Euringer is one of South Tyrol's emblems.
